PC Cantabile to sing April 2

Atlanta Baroque Orchestra sets Piedmont concert Feb. 21
[2-17-09] The Piedmont College Music Department presents the Atlanta Baroque Orchestra at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 21, in the college’s Center for Worship and Music in Demorest. In 1997, a group of Atlanta musicians met to organize the first permanent period-instrument orchestra in the Southeast—the Atlanta Baroque Orchestra. Piedmont presents’60s take on ‘As You Like It’

Register now for Cave Golf tourney
Piedmont College is hosting the annual Coach Cave Memorial Golf Tournament at the Innsbruck Resort and Golf Club in Helen on Friday, April 17. The tournament is named for the late Leon O'Neal Cave, who served as a coach and athletic director at Piedmont from 1948 to 1983. All proceeds from the tournament go to the Coach Cave Athletic Endowment at Piedmont College to benefit the athletic programs. The entry fee includes greens fee, cart, goody bag and lunch. Each registered golfer will receive a $20 gift card to the PGA Tour Superstore, 45-minute practice bay session, and more. (More) |

Piedmont plans 'Haunted Hotel'
Trick-or-treaters can check in to the “Haunted Hotel” at Piedmont College Halloween night, but they may not check back out.
The Haunted Hotel will be open from 6-9 p.m., Oct. 31, in the Getman-Babcock residence hall near the main college entrance off Historic Highway 441. Kids can continue their trick-or-treating on the quad where student groups will have games and other activities.

Procter will show a collection of 29 charcoal drawings inspired by the poet Rainer Maria Rilke’s “Duino Elegies.” Born in Bohemia in 1875, Rilke is considered one of the great German-language poets of the 20th century, known for his verse and lyric prose. Theatre to present children’s play ‘Gammer Gurton’s Needle’
DEMOREST – The Piedmont College Theatre Department, celebrating its first year in the new Swanson Center for Performing Arts and Mass Communications, invites you to experience the rollicking comedy, Gammer Gurton’s Needle, opening Friday, March 14, in the Black Box Theater at the Swanson Center at the college in Demorest.
Based on one of the earliest British comedies, this version of Gammer Gurton’s Needle is a rollicking, farcical play for ages 8 to 80! Old Gammer Gurton has lost her sewing needle while mending her servant’s pants, and the search creates mayhem and confusion, and great silliness.
Directed by Dr. Sandra Dickson, Gammer Gurton’s Needle will be presented at 7:30 p.m., Friday, March 14 and Saturday, March 15; and at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 16. African American Music Alliance concert set for Feb. 24
Eleven area choral and dance groups will take part in the upcoming Habersham County Alliance for African American Music concert at 3 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 24, at Level Grove Baptist Church in Cornelia. Choirs include the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Choir, Cornelia United Methodist Church Choir, and Shady Grove Baptist Church Choir. The dance troupes include the Ebenezer Baptist Church Praise Dancers and the Shady Grove Praise Dancers.
